The Ecumene Doctoral School joins doctoral supervisors from the Faculty of Reformed Theology and the Faculty of Roman Catholic Theology of the Babeș-Bolyai University, from the Reformed Theological Academy of Debrecen and the Episcopal Theological Institute of Pécs. The doctoral program provides the formation required to obtain a doctoral degree (PhD) in theology or philosophy.
The program is open to both ministers and lay professionals of religion, to those pursuing an academic career, researchers of religion, teachers of religion, pastoral counsellors. Theological research is carried out in an ecumenical spirit.
Registration requires a master’s degree in theology or an equivalent diploma. In accordance with the provisions of the Bologna process, the doctoral program may also be completed by those who have obtained a master’s degree in other humanities or in science. The doctoral school encourages interdisciplinary research. Doctoral students represent different Christian denominations and have diverse church or professional backgrounds.
The doctoral program lasts three years. The doctoral project is completed with a dissertation. The dissertation can be written in English or German.
The doctoral school also provides the institutional frame for a habilitation in theology.
